What happens when you put together a chef, a blogger and a health coach? Welcome to The V Word: a collaboration between creative AF vegan chef The Jungle Kitchen, super inspiring health coach Naama Wellness… and me!
Last month, I hosted my first ever event in collaboration with these two very talented ladies and I’m very excited to tell you all about it! We took over Mans Market in Leeds city center and brought delicious food, the real lowdown on healthy plant-based eating, and plenty of tips and recipes to help our lovely guests on their vegan way. It was a perfect opportunity for anyone who had just wrapped up Veganuary and was wondering how to keep up their new vegan diet, and of course for anyone simply interested in some tasty vegan food with like-minded people.
The lovely Jen from Little Birdie came along and took these fabulous photos. Jen’s blog and Instagram are one of my absolute favourites so I’d recommend popping over to Little Birdie to have a look around!
Here’s a quick rundown of what was on the menu – which course would you like to tuck into first!?Little bites
Oaty pancakes with maple + ‘bacon’ / with blueberry + coconut whip.
Avo smash on paprika sweetcorn bread
Tasty pots
Mocha protein smoothie
Cherry bakewell chia pudding
Carrot cake overnight oats
Banana ‘yoghurt’ + coco-nutty granola
Brunchin’
Greens rosti with tempeh bacon, tofu scramble + smoky beans
Sweet as
French toast sourdough with caramelised bananas + vanilla cream
Chai tea
While India (The Jungle Kitchen) and I were busy in the kitchen, Naama presented an introduction to intuitive eating. I love Naama’s approach, which gets back to basics and focuses on listening to what your body needs – not what the latest diet tells you your body needs.
Naama says: “We live in the age of abundance, yet when it comes to nutrition we are still stuck in the notion of scarcity. There’s so much confusion around what we should and shouldn’t be doing when it comes to nutrition… Usually it is the thing we need the most is the thing we resist the most.”
Thank you to these wonderful brands for contributing to the goody bags our guests received:
Creative Nature Superfoods
Cruelty-free Leeds
Thank you also to Just Mylk who provided lovely homemade nut milk for the event and to Mans Market for letting us take over their kitchen for the day.
