The Ultimate Betrayal by Lacey Leigh

I was provided a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Rainey and Jake are in love. Rainey is about to do to college though and that puts a little strain on things, but they have this summer to be together. The summer turns out to be the most eventful summer of their lives as relationships break, heal, and dark family secrets come to light. Rainey will find herself in the hot seat over her relationship with Jake. He perfect sister thinks Jake is too old for her, and someone REALLY wants them to break up... bad enough to become violent. Will Jake and Rainey's love withstand the campaign to break them up and the stunning revelations that come to light?
This book I think falls into the New Adult genre, but could be classified as contemporary romance and maybe to some degree romantic suspense.
I read this book in its beta format and I have to tell you as a reviewer, I read a great deal of beta and ARC books . I have come across some real train wrecks believe me, but this novel was very well done. The story flowed along at a perfecct pace, not too much revealed or kept from the reader at one time. There is a mystery, a fairly high steam level as the young couple experiment with their new sexual relationship, and there was a lot of family drama as well.
From a believability stand point the only thing I felt a little cheated on was the BIG reveal came too close to the end and a little more angst could have been drawn from that. Rainey forgave a monumental secret way too fast. I felt like I was kicked in the stomach at the awful turn of events , but Rainey seemed to take it much better than I would have. Of course we must remember that the author is staying true to her character , but I wonder if any of us would have been that easily persuaded to forgive or if we would just want to stay mad for awhile and make certain people suffer just a little for their deception. But, maybe I'm a lot darker than Rainey. (LOL)
Overall this was good solid first outing from the author. The grammar was correct, there weren't typos all over the place, and it looks like someone really went over the book well before presenting to others for review. I for one really appreciate that. If you are a fan of New Adult romance you will like this one. I give this one an A.
