The UK’s top five fish and chip restaurants were announced today (13 November) as they compete to be crowned winner of the Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year Award as part of the 2015 National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish.
The finalists are:-
Burton Road Chippy in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Cromars in St Andrews, Fife
Fylde Fish Bar in Southport, Merseyside
Papa’s Barn in Ditton, Kent
Simpsons Fish & Chips in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The restaurants will enter one final round of judging before making its way to the prestigious awards ceremony at The Lancaster London Hotel on 20 January 2015 where the overall national winner will be crowned.
Paul Williams, Chief Executive of Seafish, said: “We are greatly impressed with the high standard and professionalism of entrants in this year’s awards. It was a challenging task to whittle down our finalists, so much so that we have shortlisted five restaurants instead of the usual three. The level of dedication and hard work shown by the finalists is admirable. I look forward to seeing who comes out on top at the final.”
