As the cryptocurrency industry grows and the metaverse becomes more popular, businesses, including some in the cannabis industry, are starting to see the opportunities that the virtual space can offer them and their customers.
According to a press release sent to Finbold on September 28, ACS Laboratory, which is the largest hemp and cannabis testing facility in the eastern United States, plans to join the Decentraland (MANA) metaverse.
In fact, ACS Laboratory is joining the “Automatic Slims Metaverse Marketplace” on the decentralized virtual reality platform. This marketplace is run by the blockchain company Blockcity and has four floors of “of dynamic experiences merging retail, education, and entertainment.”
There are many educational and fun things to do.
As the company went on to say:
“Visitors will find ACS Laboratory on the first floor, where they can leisurely explore the 3D lab or take ACS Laboratory’s Cannabis Quest to learn about the industry and redeem real-world prizes.”
In the lab, people will be able to find out what goes into making different kinds of cannabis. On the other hand, the Cannabis Quest will have things like pop quizzes and the chance to win virtual prizes.
On the second floor, visitors can watch stations for growing, extracting, and making edibles. They can also take quizzes to earn more points and buy non-fungible token (NFT) collections from cannabis brands.
The company says that there will also be treasure hunts, influencer podcasts, live-streamed music events, interactions with health and wellness companies, and digital brand activations.
Roger Brown, who is the president and CEO of ACS Laboratory, said:
“The metaverse is a new and exciting medium for cannabis users to learn more about products, how they affect their body and how finished goods are made. We are proud to be part of the cannabis metaverse community and look forward to harnessing this medium for cannabis compliance.”
There’s marijuana in the cryptiverse
Cannabis doesn’t seem to be a new idea in the metaverse. Snoop Dogg filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the middle of June. The application covers virtual cannabis, pre-rolled hemp cigarettes, and other smoking products.
Legal cannabis production is one of the industries that can use the collaborative blockchain platform run by the cryptocurrency project VeChain (VET) and the Canadian software-as-a-service (SaaS) company TruTrace. Other industries include food, clothing, and medicine.
