The Too Much TV Roundup- June 24th

Posted on the 25 June 2022 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Capping off the week with some nice shows, and some not so nice.

1) The Boys (Amazon)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

In the 6th episode of the season, our main characters started to make bold choices. The Deep’s bold choice was to have sex with an octopus. But, A Train finally understood what it felt like to be on the receiving end of superhero nonsense that goes unchecked. Noir decides to go AWOL, right after being complimented by Homelander. Dude doesn’t like compliments I guess. Milk and Starlite team up. Kimiko can still kick ass without her powers. And, oh yeah, there was a superhero orgy. Plus, Homelander and Soldier Boy finally meet.

Final Grade: A

2) Atlanta (FX/Hulu)

English Audio Description Available?: No

You know what? The literal only reason I’m giving this episode an A minus is because it doesn’t have audio description, which at times actually felt like I was missing out on what was happening. For example, the ending. No idea who was at the door, or how the episode ended. I love that Donald Glover felt so confident this season that he gave a chunk of his episodes away to one off stories not featuring major characters just so he could make a point about something. It might hurt the shows chances at acting nominations in a crowded year, but I think this is still on track to get a Best Comedy nomination. For those keeping track, this was Episode 7, or what happens when your child’s nanny dies and you actually have to parent for once.

Final Grade: A-

3) Bosch Legacy (Free Vee)

English Audio Description Available?: No

Another solid Bosch episode for the 7th in this season as well. The mysteries are still advancing.

Episode Grade: A-

4) Bullshit (Netflix)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Episode 9 of this series. Not much to say, it’s a game show. It wasn’t particularly interesting, it was just OK.

5) Gentleman Jack (HBO/HBO MAX)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

I felt like the previous episode that ended with the beating left me with a cliffhanger promise that wasn’t quite fulfilled by an episode slowed down by a ton of posturing and worrying.

Episode Grade: B-

6) The Baby (HBO/ HBO MAX)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

This show is really fucking weird. Like, I get that it’s trying to be funny. And scary? But, some of this is just nonsense. Like the whole diaper changing sequence. Either that was poorly described, or our protagonist had an unrealistic expectation of what changing a diaper would be like. Of course it sucks. No one loves to change diapers. And in true comic form, she got shit everywhere. Am I supposed to be more scared by the baby, or her lack of common sense?

Episode Grade: C+
