The Too Much TV Roundup- December 5th

New week. new mix up of what I’ve been keeping up with.

5) Rami (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I feel like somehow this season is different in that the show is no longer Rami centric. Take this episode, which treats Rami almost as a passing thought. his sister seemed to be more of a focus, like Rami is searching for that ensemble magic that it didn’t quite start out with, but in order to do so, it almost has to totally abandon its lead character entirely. I think there’s a happy medium, where Rami can still be present in his own show, and also help to flesh out the storylines of the characters around him, without almost hiding as if his sheer presence pulls focus. I’m honestly not as big of a fan of this season as i was the previous two seasons, but I do love the unique voice this show still Carrie’s.

Episode Grade: B-

4) Shantorum (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Looks like this is one of those “just when I thought I got out” stories, and even though Hunnam’s Lin is desperately trying to leave Bombay so he doesn’t get pulled in any deeper, the forces are strong at work here to keep him. The second episode does slow down a lot from the first, allowing Lin to actually take in the surroundings a bit more, and explore the depths of these rather quickly acquired relationships. I’m still not really hooked on the show, but I am a Charlie Hunnam fan, so it’s going to take a few more episodes of me being totally disinterested before i give up.

Episode Grade: B-

3) The Imperfects (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I still am angry at Netflix, which seems to be a recurring issue for me, as I have watched and fallen in love with so many of their shows over the years that never make it past a first season. In Episode 7, the mystery grew a bit when a monster appeared that seemed to not be created by Alex, but from somewhere else. So the gang investigates, and ultimately manages to save the day. But really, after the big reveal, it would seem that one of our Imperfects came in truly clutch at the last minute, and locked up this monster of the week for all of eternity.

Episode Grade: A-

2) Vampire Academy (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Thank God for the audio description on this action packed episode, where war games turn deadly when a real strogoi is released without the knowledge of the participants. Rose is the one who managed to get her team together, and try to save as many lives as possible, but it’s obvious that mistakes were made. Some callous remarks about how those that died needed to in order to show how unprepared everyone is for a massive attack. if just one could do all that damage, think of what an army would do. Well, I’m sorry lady, but hand to hand combat just isn’t going to cut it in that case. No matter how badass your guardians are. Time to invent something.

Episode Grade: A

1) Atlanta (FX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This show with audio description made all the difference, especially as a crazy man is literally opening fire on Paper Boi in a crowded mall. so, yeah, if mass shootings aren’t your thing to watch, this one comes close, except this guy isn’t targeting everyone, just paper Boi, though I won’t say people aren’t caught in the crossfire. All because he made some dumb YouTube video before he was famous that has only 25 views. Meanwhile, our other co-leads debate whether or not to kiss for a free pair of Nike’s.

Episode Grade: A
