The Too Much TV Roundup- December 3rd

Posted on the 04 December 2022 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

My first day of Covid viewing. I tested positive, so looks like I won’t be going anywhere for a while. Just in case you didn’t know already, Covid sucks.

7) Interview With A Vampire (AMC Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

The streaming service that is struggling, with a parent company that is laying off its workforce, and recently reversed its decision to air a second season of moonHaven, still hasn’t done anything about the audio description on the interview With A Vampire adaptation. It’s actually a shame, because beneath the really hard to follow story elements are some good moments. When being interviewed, one of the characters mused on being called an exceptional negro, and how he just accepted it at the time. However, the show features several scenes with no dialogue, as well as what are obviously feeding scenes of some nature. I will say I think this show has one of the best scores for a television series I think I’ve ever heard, but it’s so hard to follow. Plus, time jumps. I really did give this one a college try, because i am so interested in the source material, but AMC Plus has to increase its accessibility.

Final Grade: C+

6) Fire Country (CBS/Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

A show that is destined for a second season renewal, but the question is, for a show I tend to always keep at or near the bottom of every list, with how backed up I am on shows, will I come back to Fire Country after the winter break? Probably not.

Episode Grade: C+

5) Little Demon (FX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

There have been funnier episodes. I liked the B-plot with the online old underwear selling and a ghost that needs closure to move on. That was absurd and funny.

Episode Grade: B-

4) Big Shot (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

An episode that kind of just exists to show that Ava has become a part of the team. I know we are heading for the tournament, and it was important to address Ava’s storyline, but this episode felt somewhat deflated compared to the usual energy of the other episodes… when the girls actually play ball.

Episode Grade: B+

3) Mythic Quest (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: A nice little comedy of errors, as David was headed to meet with the potential star of the Mythic Quest movie, and Poppy used the new game testers to see how her game stacked up. Plus, Brad is clearly up to some shenanigans.

Episode Grade: A-

2) 2) The Midnight Club (Netflix)

English Audio description?: Yes

The recently cancelled (God knows why) series finally dropped it’s first terminal patient. I loved both of my top two shows pretty equally, but the one minor fault I found with this episode was that I would have preferred Kevin’s story finished during the episode. With only a limited number of episodes and kids, i was hoping each one would get to tell a story. But if Kevin is taking up two episodes, then I don’t know. Creepy story though.

Episode Grade: A

1) Cobra Kai (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I think this was a great episode because it turned the corner on a lot of plot lines. Stingray came back. Daniel is a mess without his family, and his wife learns why Terry Silver is Satan incarnate, and maybe Amanda should cut him some slack. Plus, Sam got to show off her bad ass moves. Meanwhile, Johnny spent the whole episode trying to get his “kids” to quit their beefing. Shockingly, it worked, and you can see that Carmen is impressed with Johnny’s growth. Even Johnny gives Daniel advice, showing how far he’s come in just a few seasons. This johnny isn’t strike first anymore, he’s family first, and it’s a nice change of pace for his character. All in all, my only major complaint this time is that we still seem to be losing a lot of the kids, and their storylines aren’t as important. I miss seeing Hawk in more episodes, especially after his strong arc last season. Perhaps, there is more in store. But for now, this was the best episode of the season.

Episode Grade: A
