The Too Much TV Roundup- August 11th

Posted on the 12 August 2022 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Not a busy television show watching day. But, if every day was, I would never get anything else done.

1) Locke and Key (Netflix)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

I’m a huge fan of this show, and while I appreciate that Netflix is giving it a final season (unlike Raising Deon) to wrap up its storylines, it clearly was planing for more seasons than just one. This episode is extremely rushed with the episode opening up with two characters we’ve never seen before, then moving into a data dump about Duncan’s impending wedding, how we are still short a Locke, and then Snow Globe! Oh, that doesn’t do anything. Oh wait! Our apparently ancient refrigerator has a key! Oh look! It’s those women from the beginning! Who are they? Who cares! Gideon’s been camping in teh woods for months despite having an anywhere key? That tracks. It’s just a lot of quick writing that feels unnaturally fast getting characters from point A to point B. An unusually clunky start to one of my favorites. Hopefully, the whole season doesn’t feel like they’re cramming everything into one season.

Episode Grade: A-

2) Undone (Amazon)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Well, what a way to kill a good thing. I guess, the episode that clearly wrapped up every story arc wasn’t good enough, and we needed one more episode that sent her back to her real life, i guess suggesting none of that ever happened. This is how you undo a good thing. I wanted to give this episode an F for being unnecessary, and ruining this show, but wrapped up in it are some nice moments that couldn’t have worked if the ending wasn’t so pointless. A show about processing grief, that just essentially made everything we just watched non-existent. Did she make up Alejandro in her head? Does he exist? Fuck this ending.

Episode Grade: B (Considering a normal grade for this show, this is still a big middle finger).

3) Star Trek Strange New Worlds (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This Spock centric episode was just alright. I was underwhelmed a bit if I’m being honest. I think there’s actually perhaps too many damn Star Trek shows on that it’s hard for one to feel special.Doesn’t Lower Decks come back this month? FML.

Episode Grade: C+

4) Pistol (FX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

That was the final episode? Waht’s up with final episodes today? I’ve never truly loved this show, but I’ve always appreciated the episodes where I felt like I was learning something, and the final episode gave me less of that feeling than the past two episodes.

Episode Grade: C+, Series Grade: B-
