The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/02/23

Posted on the 03 February 2023 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

I woke up in the morning, and did not see my shadow. of course, that was as to be expected. I’m not quite the weatherman as a famous groundhog, but take that prediction for what you will.

6) Dragon Age: Absolution (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

It just kind of feels like Vox Machina to me, which I haven’t started season 2 of yet, but I’m really wanting to now. Like, super bad. Their conflicts in this series, about finding this rumored plot device that can bring anyone back to life, not as a zombie, but as they once were, is an interesting concept, but still feels very much like ‘be careful what you wish for”.

Episode Grade: B

5) 5) The Rookie (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The only reason this is in 5th place, is because it felt like an average Rookie episode, while some of the others had more impactful moments. This episode saw Tim trying to fit in with his new assignment, and Wesley believes that Elijah’s new lawyer is bribing a judge. Oh, and nolan is being harassed by his mother. There’s also a mother that was kidnapped and held for ransom… and yeah, this was basically your average Rookie.

Episode Grade: B+

4) 911 Lone Star (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: no

So, Strand spying on the domestic terrorist group took a turn when a familiar face shows up. I am interested to see where this goes. Other notable subplots featured Tk and Carlos auditioning for Carlos’s ex to get her to approve a divorce, and some very naughty thoughts about a priest.

Episode Grade: A-

3) American Auto (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

After the catastrophe, the new solutions for trying to help their brand is to start a new twitter campaign of relatability, which leads to them creating a bunch of fake twitter accounts and coming up with personalities for each, ending up in hilarious results. Also, Eric Stonestreet’s character makes a turn, and wraps up his character arc.

Episode Grade: A-

2) The Good Doctor (ABC/hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

It was an oddly split episode. Thee plots. The least interesting one featured the bulk of the “remaining cast” trying to save an undocumented father’s life… and his arm. The second best storyline featured Sean trying to come up with a way to save a dog, and we find out that they invested an ungodly amount in this dog. I love dogs. They are the spice of life. But, 27K? That’s more than i make in one year. Jesus. The best storyline ended up leading to a character exit from the show, so i won’t spoil that one totally, but it was sad to see them go, even if their character had no regrets.

Episode Grade: A

1) Doom Patrol (HBo MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This recently cancelled series is still great. After one of their own gets sucked into a dangerous situation, the Doom Patrol unknowingly must rescue her. What I loved about this plot was that Rita assumed someone would throw a retrospective for her, yet no one was in attendance, and she’s so self absorbed, she settles in anyway. Then, the Doom Patrol show up and don’t even realize they are in danger, until they are. Also, Cyborg getting a chance to hang out with some of his friends from back in the day was just a nice moment for his character.

Episode Grade: A
