The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/01/23

Posted on the 02 February 2023 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Well, this was a day of television. And cancellations. And for some reason… a second season of The Terminal List? I suppose the news that hits fans hardest yesterday was the cancellation of The Blacklist, though if you are someone who believes that show should have gone on past Megan Boone’s exit, perhaps you’ve been lying to yourself for a while.

7) Alert! (FOX/ Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

After watching the first episode, I said i would need a second to see where the series intends to go long term. Now I realize the show is pretty dumb. I am slightly intrigued in this whole “is this their son?” Angle, but the case was silly. Some guy works at a fast food place at the window and just hands out a combo 15 even though his business only goes up to 14, and there’s nothing weird about that to him? Nothing? Really?

Final Grade: C+

6) National Treasure: Edge of Sanity (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

One of her friends might be sharing secrets with Catherine Zeta Jones, which makes sense, since obviously this woman would know to plant someone randomly in this girls life in advance. This episode faced a series of stupid plot developments and twists, and it just needs better writers. I like the core cast (minus Zeta Jones), but they need writers who don’t suck (a problem that Willow also suffers from).

Episode Grade: C+

5) The Daily Show With DL Hughley (Comedy)

English Audio Description?: No

DL is the third host, and my least favorite so far. Leslie and Wanda were just way more comfortable behind that desk in this format. DL was in this zone that felt very much like he wasn’t auditioning for this gig, but just happy to have been called. His ironic Levar Burton joke may come back to haunt him as I cannot imagine them picking him right now.

Episode Grade: B-

4) Quantum Leap (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I thought the concept was pretty cool, except a few things didn’t make sense. Toward the end, they say that he had only two bodies left that he hadn’t leapt into, but the next leap was his last? I didn’t follow that logic. Also, he leapt into the person responsible for the crime? When has that ever happened? I used to watch the old Quantum leap, and I don’t remember Sam jumping into someone and just going “Great. All I have to do is not stab this person to death.” I assumed based on the format, the last person he hadn’t leapt into would be guilty… but he actually did leap into the guilty party. Very odd.

Episode Grade: B+

3) Kaleidoscope (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Green was a great episode. I’m now loving this concept. I hope they give this a second season, but make it an anthology, with a new cast and mystery. A side note… is there really no test for Parkinson’s?

Episode Grade: A

2) Leopard Skin (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

God, this series is so bizarre. i love it. Every episode brings a different level that has some bonkers element, and episode 6 had quite a few of them.

Episode Grade: A

1) Riches (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

As Nina uncovers the dark secret, she finally owns Claudia with it, and I’ve never been so engrossed in a prime time soap like i am with Riches. if you like this kind of thing, Riches is like handing you s’mores That are still on fire. you know, you are gonna get some real heat.

Episode Grade: A
