The Too Much TV Roundup- 01/31/23

Posted on the 01 February 2023 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Today’s list originally was planned to look a lot different. Sadly, Paramount Plus with Dumpster Fire had to ruin everything. Read on if you dare.

7) Willow (Disney plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I feel like this show started fairly OK, and has had some moments, but is now descending into stupidity. I initially was excited for the Christian Slater cameo, but not even he could save this episode.

Episode Grade: C

6) Slow Horses (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Man, they are ramping things up fast in this season. We’re already at a potential 9/11 type threat, and I thought we were still trying to figure out and trace this Ming stuff. Possibly a bit too much escalation?

Episode Grade: B-

5) Dead To Me (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: yes

Everyone just needs to sit in a room and talk. I think when everyone realizes they all have secrets, everyone will just go their separate ways. Of course, that isn’t going to happen, so Judy is just going to keep trying to push Jen to beg Ben not to leave, Nick has some crazy theory where Jen’s son was the driver that hit her, and Judy still isn’t being real. But Ben is, and he’s getting out of dodge.

Episode Grade: B

4) Welcome To Chippendales (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: yes

I mean, yes, Steve didn’t proof the calendar. But, what idiot put 31 days on every single month? Come on now. That guy is the real villain of this series. I’m not sure who gets killed in these “Chippendale Murders”, but it should be the guy who thought there were 31 days in February.

Episode Grade: B+

3) The Best Man: The Final Chapters (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Well, we are moving fast, aren’t we? Shelby just shows back up, drama happens, she’s on her way out… and then suddenly they are married. Man. What else could we possibly cover in the next couple episodes? This also antidotally there was going to be a waiting To Exhale series. Where did that go? Other than this series continuing the cinematic use of burning shit down and committing arson after a breakup, this cast is, um… fire?

Episode Grade: A-

2) Let The Right one in (insert Network Here)

English Audio Description?: No

I watched something that no longer exists. On January 30th, Showtime cancelled Let The Right One In. on the 31st, it was part of a content purge, and literally I had planned to bing the final four episodes today instead, figuring the purge would begin February 1st… like a normal fucking concept. They pulled the series while I was watching it. I watched one episode when in woke up and was doing my exercising. Ate breakfast, got to work, went to listen to Episode 8… vanished. Gone. Not even searchable on Paramount Plus. I know it’s being shopped, but I was really hoping to finish this season. Actually, my longer hopes involved Paramount Plus finally adding audio description that I have been complaining about since the beginning of September, so i could properly enjoy this season. Neither of those things can happen now. A show that launched in October and finished in early December now no longer exists. Episode 7 was a great episode though. It went into how Eleanor got infected to begin with, and how her parents figured out how to keep her alive. So, despite the lack of audio description… and now even a streaming platform… this episode is getting an…

Episode Grade: A

1) Tulsa king (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I mean, I liked the episode, but it has a shit forced cliffhanger of an ending. They have no proof it was his USB drive. He wasn’t even the one who dropped it off. Maybe the other biker gang was trying to buy her off. What a weak ass excuse for bringing him in.

Episode Grade: A
