Last week, I gave a look at the broad list of shows that are “on the watchlist.” With new shows entering, and at least one official exit, where do the shows line up from last week?
Best Series Currently Airing: Severance (Apple Plus) with audio description- In case my diaries aren’t making it abundantly clear that I’m loving the second season of Ben Stiller’s science fiction workplace nail biter, I am. Taking all the acting honors for its most recent episode. I think Severance is making a strong case for not just a third season, but that sweep of Emmy nominations it is quite likely to get.
Runner Up: From (MGM Plus) with audio description- Still making it through the first season, but that last episode really ramped up the mystery, violence, and madness. Finally having audio description for this show is one of the greatest gifts of 2025.
Third: Cobra Kai (Netflix) with audio description- As a long time fan, now with only 3 episodes left, I’m sad this will eventually disappear. Hopefully, when it does, Robbie and Tori will have won the tournament.
th) Yellowjackets (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Two episodes into the new season, the mystery is strong, and some weird shit is happening. So, typical Yellowjacket stuff. Christina Ricci has been doing some solid work too, as her character is finding a new layer.
th) The Traitors (Peacock) with audio description- Still a big fan. The deviousness of the traitors this season has made it frustrating, as they really aren’t very good, but what is more disappointing is that the audio description for this show is consistently at the bottom.
6) Reacher (Amazon) with audio description- I may have mentioned I’m also a fan of Reacher, and even with one episode, I’m so glad this thing is back. I’m more excited for this to return than the critically acclaimed White Lotus. For real. The audio description is pretty strong, and I hope the mystery this season is as good as the last two seasons.
th) St Dennis Medical (Peacock) with audio description- It benefits from Abbott being on an off week, and it made me laugh this week, while Abbott took a break, so I give it the edge. the audio description is not great though.
th) Abbott Elementary (Hulu) with audio description- It’s off this week, so this is just my unchanged general adoration for the show.
th) Elzabeth (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Carrie Preston’s show sparks a lot of joy, and it does so with a strong audio description track to boot. While Matlock is a great new show, my heart lies even stronger with Elzabeth.
th) Mythic Quest (Apple Plus) with audio description- Another show, where after 4 seasons, I’m still in love with the ensemble, and I like the show. This last episode, where Ian went on a journey of self discovery while Poppy stayed in bed was surprisingly effective.
11) Ghosts (Paramount Plus) Normally With Audio Description- I knocked it down a bit for the last episode missing audio description. I don’t know what is up, but I don’t want it repeated.
12) Last Week Tonight (MAX) no audio description- I’m throwing down an increasingly interesting conundrum. This show deserves to be higher, but do i put a show in my top 10 that airs without audio description? I’ll be thinking about that heading into next week, but for right now, this is really high for no audio description, and now I have to decide if it can be in the Top 10, and how high a non-audio described experience can go.
th- 13th) The White Lotus (MAX) with audio description- It was an OK premiere. The audio description has an uphill battle. I know I should embrace the show more, but I’d like to see where this show goes this season before I jump in on this.
th) Pop Culture Jeopardy (Amazon) with audio description- This is still on the list. I’m still a Jeopardy fan, so this will always float up near the top.
th) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Disney Plus) with audio description- Despite not having diversity representation in its intentionally diverse cast, the rest of the track is fun, and the last episode I saw had Daredevil, so the Marvel nerd in me wins here.
th) Matlock (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Kathy Bates is the reason to watch. I think there is a gap between Elzabeth and Matlock as shows, but she’s a strong performer, and one of the greatest actresses working.
th) Vietnam: The War That Changed America (Apple Plus) with audio description- An excellent docuseries if you have the time and the bandwidth to enjoy it. Enjoy, being a strong word, but it does have really good audio description.
th) School Spirits (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Where I’m at, I’m so interested to see the next steps, which is always where you want to leave a series. Now that Janet is openly on the board, how will those who know it isn’t really her react?
th) Harley Quinn (MAX) with audio description- Coming off the rebound. That brainiac episode was my least favorite, and I’m glad the show is course correcting. That murder mystery episode was good.
th) Celebrity Jeopardy (Hulu) with audio description- it is off this week, but it stays pretty steady. I need more celebrities. Like, actual celebrities. I’m pretty aware of who people are, and even I’m finding these faces to be a stretch this season. The Masked Singer just had a boxing legend in season 13. Like, can we really not find smart celebrities willing to compete for charity?
st) Tracker (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Another show back on the list after hiatus. This seems like a nice place to put Tracker.
nd) The Rookie (Hulu) with audio description- Even though it gained audio description, the writing on the show, which I’ve loved for seven seasons is really starting to suffer. This weeks episode was awful. Sorry, not sorry. It stays high because I’m a long term fan, but it took a hit this week.
nd) Zero Day (Netflix) with audio description- Only one episode in, but I’m intrigued. Plus, it stars Robert DeNiro, and we so rarely get him in a series format, if ever. I hope it gets better.
rd) The Daily Show (Paramount Plus) no audio description- It did drop this week. Some new shows, plus they took a week off. I had no reason to raise it.
th) the Masked Singer (Hulu) no audio description- Pretty even with last week. Some strong talent, still, and a pretty big surprise under this weeks costume. I wish FOX would give the audio description to Hulu.
th) Paradise (Hulu) with audio description- It just makes these random self inflicted wounds, and this week, it was such a promising episode, with a few dumb choices. It could, and should be better.
th) Going Dutch (Hulu) no audio description- I oddly like the show, and it is one of the rare scripted shows without audio description.
th) SNL (Peacock) with audio description- i feel like this will go up once the Anniversary special has audio description on Peacock. recently, I had a real life conversation with someone, and I basically argued that half the cast could be renditioned in the middle of the night and no one would notice. There’s so much focus on the anchors, that newer cast members are struggling. Andrew Dismukes… he’s been there forever, and I have no opinion of him.
th) XO Kitty (Netflix) with audio description- Honestly, its fine. I don’t love or hate it. That’s why I’ve taken such a slow approach. I’m just not motivated, but I’m also not asking to quit.
th) Court Of Gold (Netflix) with audio description- A fairly solid docuseries to join the ranks. I would like it more if I hadn’t just watched Starting Five a few months ago. This one is about the Olympic team, so a little different.
th) ove You To Death (Apple Plus) After a weird second episode, it bounced back in the third, and is on the upswing. Can it maintain the momentum?
st) Prime Target (Apple Plus) with audio description- This show is Ok. I don’t love it or hate it. We’re in the middle of the road group, before we start on the decline. This is still above water.
nd) Invincible (Amazon) with audio description- Some people adore this show. I like it. I just don’t love it. I’m interested by this season, but I don’t know where we’re headed. This could easily rise, and is just a nice place to start.
rd) Are you Smarter Than A Celebrity (Amazon) with audio description- Actually forgot to rank this last week. This feels right. It is down the list of reality/competition game shows.
th) Will Trent (Hulu) with audio description- This took a drop this week as well. I just didn’t like this week, and I’ve honestly struggled with this season altogether.
th) Win Or Lose (Disney Plus) with audio description- Man, my expectations have not been met. The audio description has some strong parts, but overall, it is part of Disney’s onslaught to determine what blind people are and are not allowed to know.
th) Clean Slate (Amazon) with audio description- Laverne Cox’s disturbingly mediocre comedy is still alive. I’m halfway done, and I will keep going.
th) Shifting Gears (Hulu) with audio description- No new episode, so this ended up dipping mostly due to lack of a new episode, and new shows entering.
th) How Disney Built America (Hulu) no audio description- Stumbled across this. It is new to the list. This feels like a solid place for it to start.
th) The Kardashians (Hulu) with audio description- If I make it to Season 6, a miracle will have happened.
th) Muslim Matchmaker (Hulu) with audio description- this also feels like a good place to launch this new realty dating show. How long it stays is yet to be seen.
st) Papa’s House (Paramount Plus) with audio description- i didn’t even watch a new episode this week.
nd) Cassandra (Netflix) with audio description- it has some interesting ideas, but I’m already so burned out of AI thrillers. This one just isn’t winning me over.
rd) Wags To Riches (Netflix) with audio description- Not really my thing, but I can’t deny I’ve almost finished the season.
th) The Hunting Party (Peacock) with audio description- Near death. I may drop this from my watchlist.
th) Happy’s Place (Peacock), the Pitt (MAX), Secret Level (Amazon)- All With Audio Description- Three shows that hover near that cancellation hammer, and I just haven’t pulled the trigger.
th) Celebrity Bear Hunt (Netflix) and Te Z Suite (Tubi)- both With Audio Description- The two deaths of the week. The first is because the only contestant I knew or cared about got the boot, and the second is just a really unfunny show, and I think Tubi needs some time to figure out how to make TV shows. My recommendation for Tubi would be wait until there’s a shocking cancellation, and save that show. Take something that already works, and be the guardian angel for it, and build out from that. It is how we got the Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist movie (Roku), but also Tubi wrapped Wynonna Earp with a film. Yahoo technically did the final season of Community. Save something. Z Suite is just a sad show for all involved.
