TV Shows Watched: Earth Abides: S1E2 (MGM Plus) with audio description, Cobra Kai: S6E9 (Netflix) with audio description, Elzabeth: S2E? (Paramount plus) with audio description, and I almost finished a fourth episode. But, my movies list is long….
Podcasts: none
YouTube: The Awards Contender: (Worst Best picture Nominees Of The 2010’s)
Movies: The Exorcism (AMC Plus) no audio description, Smile 2 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, A Swim Lesson (YouTube) no audio description, and Heretic (Screener) no audio description
You can watch A Swim lesson right now on YouTube, being hosted by the LA Times, and being submitted for consideration for Documentary Short. It does not have audio description.
I did not watch enough TV, but since we are about to get those Globe nominations today, I wanted to drop some major predictions.
The hottest of Hot Takes About THe Upcoming Globe Nominations:
The Brutalist will feel, once again, somehow under nominated. I know previous voting bodies have had a problem getting screener access, and with a Globe membership of 300, you would think… but at the same time, A24 seems to be pushing everything else right now. I think maybe the lack of Felicity Jones, or Screenplay, or both would make people think there was something wrong, without knowing that not everyone has actually seen this.
My same thoughts go to A Complete Unknown, which i think will get a few nominations. Sept 5 is a movie about journalism, and this is the former Hollywood Foreign Press (I’m not sure they lost their entire membership), so journalism might matter to them. I think tht 6th Best Picture spot goes to Sept 5, or maybe even Blitz as a weird swing.
i believe nickel Boys will get nominations regardless of Picture.
I’m predicting some interesting choices in Drama Actress. i do not think Soarise Ronan gets in for The Outrun. I think this is a chance for them to really thrown some interesting names into the race, like Fernanda Torres, Pamela Anderson, Ryan Destiny, or especially Kate Winslet. I’ll say Jolie, Kidman, and Jean-Baptiste, but I think we’ll see our biggest swings in this race.
Instead of predicting Memoir Of A Snail, i predicted The Day The Earth Blew up.
I think Emilia Perez gets 1 supporting actress, and 1 original song.
I put Ryan Reynolds in my sixth spot for Deadpool And Wolverine. He makes more sense than Michael Keaton to me, and Deadpool is the biggest film this year, as well as Reynolds being a previous nominee.
The Globes are not known for making major political statements, so i do not have The Apprentice showing up here. I did put Sebastian Stan in for A Different Man as a consolation prize.
I am predicting no nominations for Saturday Night, and only 1 for Gladiator 2 (Denzel). Also, I predicted no nominations for Nosferatu, Joker Folie Aux Deux, Juror No 2, The Room Next Door, and other Oscar bait (or onetime hopefuls).
And, as far as The Substance, I went with Picture, Actress, Director, and Screenplay.
