A couple of mini hot takes since I watched an ungodly amount of TV in one day. Y’all, I’m scared for these fall season debuts.
A Very Royal Scandal- Since I finished this, I’ll say the audio description was solid. It remarked on everything from dog poop to hunting pheasants in a series about the Prince Andrew fallout. Michael Sheen gave a strong performance as Andrew, which was well highlighted through audio description.
La Maison- A little slow, and with the amount of shows dropping, I can’t promise a return to this show. the third episode is very in the air, since it’ll drop next Friday, and the amount of shows between now and then is insane. I wish it had introduced us to more of the ensemble and who they are aside from the figurehead with the scandal, but I’m personally stoked that Apple keeps describing all its international content. I just never would have dropped this show in the middle of this Fall TV season. it needs room to breathe for an audience to find it.
Monsters- Episode 5 is an entire episode, one room, two people, of just Eric Menéndez describing in full graphic detail being raped as a child. That’s your trigger warning. It isn’t really a high audio description episode, as it is a lot of Eric talking. I think the episode was also the shortest.
I finally started to like Twilight Of The Gods, but then they have these random sex scenes that make me think their target demo is Stifler from American Pie.
And I totally heard the narrator switch today for 911. ABC really did go with a new company for everything.
