Sad TV News: TV Show Cancellations. Amazon brought the axe down on My Lady Jane after just one season. I thought that show had just really started to discover itself in the back half of the season, but I’m sure a lot of people just didn’t give it the time. Also, Wicked Tuna was cancelled, which feels like that show was on forever. And Netflix cancelled something called “Buying Beverly Hills”, which apparently has two seasons.

I’m not really sure I have anything truly profound to say, but as the season closes for The GOAT, I think it is important to mention that I don’t typically watch reality TV. I sometimes check out a reality competition series. I do like American Idol, and to some extent The Masked Singer. i would be watching So you Think You Can Dance, but the audio description just can’t bridge that gap for me. I used to be a paid blogger for that show, so it’s somewhat of a painful experience for me to even try. but, for every shitty reality show that comes along like The Trust, I have found a few I’ve liked. The Squid Game show wasn’t awful, and I’ve really enjoyed The Traitors, though it has really sub-par audio description. that leads me to the GOAT, which I have to say, based on my very limited range of audio description in this genre, might have the best audio description I’d heard. So, as it wraps for me, i just wanted to use this little blurb spot to shout them out.
I don’t know most of these reality stars. one of them was on The Traitors, after previously being on another reality show. Other than that, I think everyone was just random. but, I never felt lost, I was able to follow all of them, I knew who was talking to the camera, and the audio description supported the challenges and actions really well. A lot of this has to do with the way a show is edited to being with, but it is also about the choices you make once allowed to make them. Oddly enough, The GOAT is now the current reigning GOAT in this genre, though I really hope Peacock hands season 3 of The Traitors to a better writer. I have so much love and hope for that show, and also… why the fuck doesn’t American Idol have audio description? Like, honestly? that was basically the OG reality competition series that launched a dozen look alikes, and it is going into Season 23 and still has no audio description? It has featured blind contestants, but doesn’t have accessibility? WTF?
