First, some good news. Apple Plus has confirmed a second season of Palm Royale. I didn’t need it, but maybe someone did.

I knocked out the second episode of The Acolyte (Disney Plus), which has attracted a troll army. This show has a 4.7 on IMDB, but every critic I follow or subscribe to is enamored with this project. There’s a huge disconnect here. I think the show is excellent, setting us up with new and fresh characters, a mysterious plot, and a character strong enough to kill Jedi.Nicole Zansorella’s description is really good, when she and the team at Deluxe can get around the very likely list of demands by Disney as to what not to include. I love the cast, I don’t mind that there are women here, but I think a lot of people online are trying to make a big deal out of that. The Disney backlash is absurd.

I finished the first season of the excellent Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix), which I really hope does get a renewal at Netflix. It is set up perfectly for a second season, and I want to know what happened to Niko! Is that it? Or is there something more to it? But the finale was terrific, and really sets up Season 2 perfectly. This was a very pleasant and welcome surprise. Props to the audio description team for an overall strong season.

I’m still loving the new season of Trying (Apple Plus), which had the gang abandon a murder mystery thing at the guy’s own birthday party. That’s harsh. And then his best friend couldn’t figure out what to say for his toast, which led Scott to believe that he has lived a mostly pointless life, and he wants to row across the Atlantic to draw attention to rising sea levels. Be kind to your friends, guys, because if you aren’t, they might row across the Atlantic.

Invincible (Amazon) saw Mark trying really hard to make his relationship work. Meanwhile, the world isn’t stopping so he can have a date. Bad guys will be bad guys.

Evil (Paramount Plus) gave birth to an episode where some young influencers were doing exorcisms, and the trio had to go on another side quest, while we await the arrival of what supposedly is the spawn of satan. We are chugging along to the end. I’m enjoying the audio description, but I wish Media Access Group got more narrators credited consistently. Is this Adrienne Barbeau?

I also finished A Man In Full (Netflix), which certainly did not end the way I wanted it to. Like, my mind kept trying to pull this series in one direction, but they just kept wanting to go down the route with this other character, and I just didn’t. I think the show has strong performances, but ultimately I didn’t like the story it told. I don’t have any specific problems with the audio description. There were moments where something was needed to be pointed out and was, like earlier on in the series about the saddlebag sweat.

And, in the world of older shows, I’m still catching up on Young Sheldon, so a Season 3 episode of the show did have some nice audio description on MAX.
