TV Shows Watched: Happy Face: S1E2 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, Yellowjackets: S3E? (Paramount Plus) with audio description, Ghosts: S4E18 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, Cassandra: S1E5 (Netflix) with audio description, the Kardashians: S1E8 (Hulu) with audio description, and Have I Got News For you: S2E7 (MAX) no audio description
Best Episode: Yellowjackets- While I don’t agree with every choice made in this episode as being the most narratively strong choice, nor would I classify this as being the best episode of the season, it was still the best thing I watched. And, I kind of hope Walter is telling the truth. I think that would make things way more interesting. No spoilers, so if you know, you know.
Runner Up: ghosts- the episode found that hot stripper, Chris, who has recurred in a few episodes already, dead and living as a ghost. of course, his hotness causes a ruckus, Issac can’t even really speak, and somehow the living can see Hetty. It’s a St. Patricks Day miracle?
Best Audio Description: Yellowjackets- An almost no-contest victory. Only six shows, one doesn’t have audio description, and one is narrated by AI. Of the four remaining, Yellowjackets has to deal with time jumps, a broad ensemble, and random acts of violence. And also, nightmares. the survivors, past and present, seem to have a lot of fever dreams.
Runner Up: Happy Face- It makes the most sense. There’s a fairly solid attention to detail here. I wanted more out of the murder museum.
Best Performance: Tawny Cypress (Yellowjackets)- Without giving anything away, tai was given the most weight for her performance this week. I generally try to avoid spoilers, so here I am. Just accept that Tawny was great. A very emotional performance.
Runner Ups: Annaleigh Ashford (Happy Face) and Amber Ruffan (Have I Got News For You)- Ashford is a consistent MVP for her show, but I’m a big fan of Amber, and she just got cut from the White House correspondents Dinner, which she would have been savage at. I can’t believe she lost the gig, and we were all denied hearing Amber’s roast.
Best Moment Of Audio description: I’ve Got An Axe To Grind (Yellowjackets)- Lottie has an axe, and she finds a very unique place to put it. very. unique.
Runner Up: the Frog Prince (Yellowjackets)- Honestly, that whole opening moment where we are tracking that frog, through it climbing, and eventually performing its mating ritual. That whole thing was so well done. Unnecessary, but kind of cool to know where the screams are coming from.
Worst Of…- I had to sit and listen to kris Jenner be shocked that master class asked her to present something. Fuck me. I mean, these ladies act like they aren’t all multi-millionaires, who already filmed a long running successful TV reality show. Yes, kris, they asked you. Because you are Kris fucking Jenner. Not because you are necessarily a pioneer in your field, but because the whole vibe of Masterclass is getting famous people to tell you stuff, not necessarily the best person in the field, or the most educated, but the most famous.
