The Golden Globes are tomorrow, and Apple Plus has dropped its paywall for the weekend. BINGE!

TV Shows Watched: Silo: S2E8 (Apple Plus), 911: S8E4 (Hulu) with audio description, Laid: S1E7 (Peacock) with audio description, Bookie: S2E3 (MAX) with audio description, and Virgin River: S6E4? (Netflix) with audio description

Movies Watched: Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (Netflix) with audio description, The Nature Of Love (screener) no audio description

Best Episode: Silo- Again, I love how the conflict in the first Silo is playing out. Also, Juliet runs into a mysterious new figure who apparently has read Robin Hood.

Runner Up: Laid- We learn where the hex came from. While I wasn’t crazy about the ending of the episode, I did love how the guy was telling this story that was completely different from reality.

Best Performance: Harriet Walter (Silo)- Walker takes this episode, as her growing concern for the love of her life puts her in Bernard’s crosshairs, and suddenly the woman who never left her little area, who seemed to know everything there is to know about the Silo, is facing off with Bernard. i thought Walter did a phenomenal job this episode, and has been great all season.

Runner Up: Teryl Rothery (Virgin River)- I could have just picked Tim Robbin’s again, but, I decided to take a rather slow day, and highlight my favorite Virgin River character, and the actress who plays her. Muriel is Virgin River’s toned down, more realistic Blanche Deveraux, and I always loved Blanche, and I love Muriel. I was so happy when the sexpot finally got someone that wasn’t in a relationship to flirt with in Cameron last year, then the producers went and fucked that up. This should have been the season of Muriel and Cameron. I mean, come on, I think Pacey dated his teacher longer in Dawson’s Creek, and that was actually an inappropriate May/December thing that took a big chunk of Season 1. Muriel and Cameron were over and done with so fast. So, when this episode had this little party with the women, and Muriel got to have some fun with the stripper, it felt so anti-Virgin River in some respects, but for the part of me that would watch Muriel on her own show, I’m still rooting for the old gal. I don’t know where her love life is headed, but I hope she lands herself the stunner she’s deserved for six seasons.

Best Audio Description: Silo- There are just a lot of science fiction/dystopian elements to describe, and describe well, plus a rather expansive cast.

Runner Up: All 4 other shows. Each one of them is fine. Each one occasionally stumbles. Each one also has moments of brilliance.

Best Moment Of Audio Description: No Winner, 5 runner ups instead.

Runner Up: Silo- A couple of stand out moments for me included the grappling hook scene, as well as the fight Juliet has in the other Silo, and that reveal that accompanies it.

Runner Up: Laid- The whole scene where he was talking about “that night”, but it was visually very different. The audio description was so important, and really came through.

Runner Up: Virgin River- Of course, I enjoyed how they handled that bachelorette party. Especially the look on Muriel’s face. Love it.

Wallace And Gromit- Technically a movie, but as Gromit is a non-verbal character, audio description is very important. First, I loved the initial scene with the Gnome, and him tidying up the garden, as well as Gromit’s reactions.

Runner Up: Wallace and Gromit- There’s also this chase scene that feels really epic and fast paced, but is juxtaposed against something that makes you realize how slow it actually is. It reminded me a lot of the train sequence from the first Ant Man film.

Worst Episode- The other film, The Nature Of Love is all in French, no audio description, and has a lot of sex. So, I was just listening to people talk, then fuck, then talk, then… well… you get it.

Worst Performance: Issac from Laid. Just for that one scene though. He’s been great all season, and the writing at the end of this episode just fell apart, and he was left with some really unfortunate dialog.

Worst Audio Description- Again, The NAture Of Love is not in English, and has no audio description. We have a winner.
