Episode 11 – Burns Verkaufen der Krafwerk
Couch Gag – This time Santa’s Little Help won’t let the family sit down.
Plot Synopsis – Burns decides to retire and sells the power plant to a German consortium for an exorbitant price. Homer’s laziness and inefficiency are quickly exposed by his new bosses, and he is laid off.
What is going on really – We start this episode with Mr Burns feeling tired with all his work and is tempted to sell the planet. With the rumor in place Homer learns he has stocks and sales for $25, but he sales when the stock continues to rise as the takeover happens.
When German’s take over the planet Homer fears for his job as safety inspector and this leads to Homer being the only member of staff laid off. With Mr Burns enjoying the new freedom, Homer is struggling with unemployment and the German’s are finding all sorts of problems with the power planet.

Final Thoughts – This is a solid episode which at times feels like it has slightly dated, but it is also shows how big business were happy to sale not worrying about the employees they were leaving behind, this one does however have a lag in the middle.
