The Right Amount

The Right AmountThe Shelby Flatcap by Poe & Co, Ltd.

Flatcaps and I have a love/hate relationship. I’ve been searching for one like Robert Redford wore in “The Great Gatsby” since I saw the movie in the 1980’s. The problem is that modern flatcaps are more streamlined than the ones produced in the 1920’s.

Except for this one, the Shelby model, based on the hit Netflix series “Peaky Blinders“. Made to 1920’s specs by an American company based in Massachusetts, this cap has just the right amount of drape I’d guess you call it? The eight-panel cap is handmade with a curved, sewn-down brim, and is is made of heavyweight wool tweed in deep “Raven” black.

It comes in a blue, black and white herringbone and black, if you can get one in your size, which I highly recommend that you do.

In other news, stay tuned for the release of The Middle Ground, my guide to smart casual, wonderfully illustrated by friend of the blog Brohammas.
