Plot: In the midst of a tropical storm, the crew of an offshore oil rig must survive the rampage of a creature after invading its undersea habitat.
Verdict: Modern Creature Feature
Story: We follow the group of employees of the rig as they get ready to settle in during a storm on the rig. The tension are high between them all because of a disappearance of one of their own, leaving the group to searching for him, but we find them battling against a mysterious creature which is picking them off one by one.
What starts as normal night for the team where they are stuck inside while the drilling is on hold during the storm. We get to see the search which is always the same and the typical one being picked off. What makes this look good is that it doesn’t hold back when the creature attacks happen nearly all of them are sudden and snappy. It really comes under the category of B-movie creature feature which does all it needs to. (6/10)
Actor Review
William Forsythe: Jim Fleming captain on the rig, he is very strict and protective of his daughter on the rig. As the biggest name in the film he gets killed early adding to potential shock value. (3/10)
Stacey Hinnen: Freddy Brewer the big guy on the rig who thinks he can take on the creature and is the only one who puts up a fight against them. Solid hero like performance, but also mixes in the goes too far. (5/10)
Serah D’Laine: Carey Fleming daughter of Jim who is also in a relationship with Dobbs, she helps the team search by staying in the control tower watching the camera and the guys backs. Ok performance that will easily be forgotten. (4/10)
Scott Martin: Dobbs the long suffering member of the team because of his relationship with Carey. He plans the most to stop the creatures and thinks of the best way to stop them. Ok performance but not strong enough for the role he ends up playing. (3/10)
Support Cast: The rest of the crew on the rig all make good disposable characters with different traits who help the heroes get that much further in their battle against the creatures.
Director Review: Peter Atencio – Creates a very basic creature feature that does what is says it will do. (5/10)
Horror: Goes for sudden jump scares over anything built up. (6/10)
Thriller: Doesn’t build the tension up its just attack, run, hide and make another plan. (4/10)
Settings: The setting of the rig works perfectly creating the isolation needed for a solid horror idea. (10/10)
Special Effects: Simple effects used to create the creatures. (6/10)
Suggestion: This is something to watch if it is on late night television, not one to go out your way to see but it will be enjoyable over the night. (Midnight Movie)
