The Ramblin’ Guide to Pet Friendly Sedona Arizona

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

We recently had the pleasure of spending some time in the beautiful little city of Sedona Arizona. While there we found a wonderful community filled with warm hearted and friendly locals that lived up to the great reputation that Sedona has. What was surprising to us though was how pet friendly Sedona ended up being. Normally towns that are focused on tourism don’t have lots of pet friendly options, but Sedona was quite the opposite. With that in mind we’ve put together a short guide of some great pet friendly activities and accommodations while visiting Sedona,Arizona.

Guide to Pet Friendly Sedona Az

While many pet friendly cities boast about dog parks and hosting pet friendly festivals Sedona seems to take it a step further and allows your pet to participate in normally “human only” activities. Here’s a listing of some pet friendly things you can do while you are visiting Sedona.

PET FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

Sedona Dog Park – Conveniently located in Northwest Sedona right off of Highway 89A it’s a great place to take your doggie out for a date and meet new furry friends. Sedona’s dog park is large and has lots of space to help you run off that extra puppy energy.  (950 Soldier Pass Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336)

Slide Rock State Park - Slide Rock State Park is located at the base of Oak Creek Canyon is very pet friendly and a great place to enjoy a hike or even some camping. Make sure to keep your pooch on a leash while you explore this 43-acre park,  and take in the beautiful rock formations. (6871 N Highway 89A Sedona, AZ, US 86336)

Grand Canyon National Park - If you are planning a trek out to the Grand Canyon make sure to bring your pooch along. Your dog is welcome on  all the hiking trails as long as it stays on a leash and you make sure to clean up after it. Why should you be the only one to experience such great views?

Pet Friendly Tours – If you contact many of the smaller Jeep Tour and Walking Tour Companies in the area they are more than willing to accommodate your doggie. Some are so pet friendly they have their own dogs they’ll being along too!

PET FRIENDLY DINING

Surprisingly pet friendly, Sedona features many restaurants with outdoor patios and seating that allow you to bring your dog to dinner. One of our favorites kicks it up a notch and even brings out a water bowl and offers a doggie dinner menu.

Ken’s Creekside – Lauren, Zoe,  and I had the pleasure of dining here the last time we visited Sedona. Their menu  had a pretty large selection of fresh and whole food items. Lauren enjoyed a  fantastic mushroom and goat cheese burger while I partook in some vegan enchiladas that were to die for. The best part though? Zoe got to chow down on some chicken jerky treats while we ate our meals. They also had full doggies “dinners” available for purchase. You can find Ken’s Creekside at  251 Arizona HWY 179, Sedona, AZ, 86336

Wildflower Bread Company- The bakery at wildflower features fresh baked breads and lots of other baked goods. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner with your pet. Serving soups, salads, breads, and pastas there’s something on the menu for everyone in the family.  It can be found at the Pinion Point Shops locate at 101 N. Highway 89A Sedona, AZ 86336

Cucina Rustica – Located just south of Sedona the Cucina Rustica is located in the village of Oak Creek. Featuring a Farm to Table experience with an entirely certified organic menu, this is definitely the most upscale choice for pet friendly dining. With an outdoor patio you can enjoy wine, fine dining, and your fur buddy all in one location. 7000 Arizona 179 #126A, Sedona, AZ 86351

Pet Care

Creek Small Animal Clinic – If you happen to need pet care or vet services while in Sedona there’s a small animal clinic that services local and out of towners for both regular care and after hours emergencies. It’s located at 3130 W HWy 89A, Sedona, Az – 928.282.1195

Bark and Purr Kennels – If for any reason you need to board your dog during your stay in Sedona there is a kennel available with reasonable rates. You can find Bark and Purr at 30 Finley Dr, Sedona AZ 86336 0r 928.282.4108

Pet Friendly Lodging

We were surprised to find so many different lodging offerings and pet friendly hotels when we visited Sedona. Here are a couple of the best ones we found.

El Portal Sedona – Opened about 10 years ago the El Portal is one of the finest small hotels in Sedona. With only 12 rooms they have been the recipients of quite a few awards including the Pet Friendliest hotel in America by USA Today and top 50 small hotels in America by Forbes.
