Frankenstein DC comics

Frankenstein Agent Of Shade #16

By: Matt Kindt, Alberto Ponticelli

Published: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Sound the trumpets, this is the last issue of Frankenstein Agent of Shade. Not a perfect book, but an entertaining one for sure. I am hoping that Frankenstein will continue to be a big part of the Justice League Dark because he is a damn good character.

Green Lantern DC comics

Threshold #1

By: Keith Giffen, Tom Raney, Howard Porter

Published: DC Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: This is a debut issue of DC Comics newest title. It sounds like it will be a anthology type book of different goings on in the DC space written by sci-fi expert Keith Giffen. In this particular issue, a disgraced Green Lantern finds himself in a Running Man situation and Larfleeze, the ultimate hoarder, has all of his junk stolen from him.

bionic man bionic woman

Bionic Man vs. Bionic Woman #1

By: Keith Champagne, Jose Luis, Ardian Syaf

Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: Early in his career, filmmaker Kevin Smith was asked to write a number of screenplays based on old geek projects due to his self-admitted geekiness, His attempts with Superman are well-known, but he was also asked once to write a Six Million Dollar Man screenplay (titled Bionic Man this time around). The movie obviously didn’t happen, but Smith’s screenplay continued to exist. Dynamite, a comic book publisher who makes much of their money by licencing classic characters like The Lone Ranger, and putting them back into circulation gave Kevin Smith the chance to bring his vision of the Bionic Man. It must have been successful because it led to Dynamite also launching Bionic Woman, and now they are pitting the 2 characters against each other.

Brian K. Vaughn

Saga #9

By: Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples

Publisher: Image Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Saga is by far the best comic of 2012. Even though it follows Romeo and Juliet esque lovers trying to save their baby from the war between their planets, there is another character that hasn’t been seen in a while, the intergalactic bounty hunter, The Will.

Hulk marvel

Indestructible Hulk #3

By: Mark Waid, Leinil Francis Yu

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: What happens when you turn Bruce Banner into Tony Stark instead of a bumbling emo-kid? You get the coolest new book from Marvel comics. Check it out!

avengers marvel

New Avengers #2

By: Jonathan Hickman, Steve Epting, Jock

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: Black Panther just brought together the group of people he once disavowed, Tony Stark’s Illuminati. As long as Jonathan Hickman is writing the 2 flagship Avengers books than I am interested. He is he kind of creative injection that this franchise needs.

Wolverine Marvel

Savage Wolverine #1

By: Frank Cho

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: Wolverine’s new Marvel Now book that takes him into the Savage Land. Worth a look!
