Akaneiro #1

By: Justin Aclin, Vasilis Lolos

Publisher: Dark Horse

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: You may have heard of American McGee. He is a video game auteur who has reinvisioned such things as Alice in Wonderland and Grimm Fairytales. This time he is reinvisioning Little Red Riding Hood as a Japanese folktale in a new video game. This is the comic based on that project.

Lobster Johnson: Satan Smells A Rat

By: Mike Mignola, John Arcudi, Kevin Nowlan

Publisher: Dark Horse

Price: $3.50

The Lowdown: This is a one-shot adventure staring Lobster Johnson, a pulpy superhero that likes of Spy-Smasher or The Phantom. He was born in the Hellboy books and occasionally gets a solo adventure, like here where he tracks down the killers of skid row bums.

Aquaman

Aquaman #20

By: Geoff Johns, Paul Pelletier

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2,99

The Lowdown: The Others return to help Aquaman stop the Scavenger from collecting Atlantean artifacts, one in particular in Southwestern United States.

Green lantern

Green Lantern #20

By: Geoff Johns, Doug Mahnke

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $7.99

The Lowdown: $7.99? Holt shit! It’s expensive because it is a extra-sized issue in honor of Geoff Johns leaving Green Lantern after 9 epic years. It is the finale to the White Lantern takedown (which sucks because Green Lantern Corps last week was an epilogue issue, get on your game DC) and it will include a Geoff Johns retrospective.

Justice League

Justice League #20

By: Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: The prologue of Trinity War continues here where secrets will be revealed about Pandora’s box.

WWII

Half Past Danger #1 (of 6)

By: Stephen Mooney

Price: $3.99

Publisher: IDW Publishing

The Lowdown: Summer 1943, in the midst of WWII, Staff Sergeant Irish Flynn and his troops come face-to-face with dinosaurs in the South Pacific.

Bounce #1

By: Joe Casey, David Messina

Price: $2.99

Publisher: IDW Publishing

The Lowdown: First issue of a new superhero story starring the ultimate slacker. He’s relatable, reliable, and a feel-good hero. He sounds kind of like Spider-Man (although I wouldn’t call Spidey a slacker). With Octo-spider still in full swing in the pages of Superior Spiderman, this might be a cool book for the die-hards to get a fix.

MAR130584

Miniature Jesus #2 (of 5)

By: Ted McKeever

Price: $3.99

Publisher: IDW Publishing

The Lowdown: I really dig the first book. It is simplistic storytelling of complicated themes. Just like I like it.

Daredevil

Daredevil #26

By: Mark Waid, Chris Samnee

Price: $3.99

Publisher: Marvel Comics

The Lowdown: This is a double-sized issue celebrating the start of a third year on this run of Daredevil, which has been pretty damn good so far. Daredevil meets a new foe, one who has something to do with the accident that gave DD his powers in the first place. Plus, Foggy is still laid up in the hospital fighting cancer. Iron Man guest stars.

Spider-Man

Superior Spider-Man #10

By: Dan Slott, Humberto Ramos

Price: $3.99

Publisher: Marvel Comics

The Lowdown: A self-admitted jumping on point where the Green Goblin makes a return but Spidey is no where to be found
