Green Lantern

Green Lantern Corps Annual #1

By: Peter J. Tomasi, ChrisCross

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $4.99

The Lowdown: This is the conclusion of the story arc “The Rise of the Third Army.” This is basically what every Green Lantern book has been working too for awhile now. Only last week did the books really start crossing over the way they did during the Sinestro Corps Wars. Of course its only set up for the next Green Lantern event. With Green Lantern, there is always a next event. Its part of what makes it great, but also a pain in the ass to keep up with.

DC Comics

I Vampire #16

By: Joshua Hale Fialkov, Dennis Calero, Alex Garner

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: This is another flashback origin issue, not to be confused with the issue 0 event from a few months ago. This one goes right past Andrew’s era and goes back to Cain, the first vampire, and tells how the vampires came to be in The New 52. The cover has some pyramids on it so color me intrigued.

Robert Kirkman

Invincible #100

By: Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley

Publisher: Image Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: The 100th issue. A landmark. The solicits have been selling this for like the last 20 issues. It is an extra-large issue for the conclusion of the “Death of Everyone” arc that will test Invincible’s moral compass like it hasn’t been tested before.

Avengers #4

By: Jonathan Hickman, Adam Kubert, Dustin Weaver

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: This issue includes the origin of one of the Avengers’ newest members, Hyperion. He first appeared back in the 60s as an evil version of Superman leading an evil version of the Justice League against the Avengers. He has since been used as a hero in alternate realities. Hickman has already described him as a brand new version.

Avengers Marvel Comics

Hawkeye #7

By: Matt Fraction, Steve Lieber, Jesse Hamm, David Aja

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Hawkeye’s regular scheduled story is getting pushed back for this very special issue of Clint and Kate dealing with the consequences a hurricane in New York City (obviously  a nod to Hurricane Sandy). All of Fraction’s personal proceeds for this book will go to charity.

Punisher Marvel

Punisher War Zone #4 (of 5)

By: Greg Rucka, Carmine Di Giandomenico

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: This is one of Marvel’s coolest books going right now. The last issue was really stand out with Thor and Punisher sharing some wartime feelings over some crappy beer. Punisher clearly sees what he has to do now: break Cole out of prison.
