Buzzworthy books of the week.
Alex + Ada #15
The conclusion to one of my favorite books running. I look forward to it every month. I haven’t heard of a cancellation notice, so I am hoping this is an organic end to a series that deserves one.
Black Canary #1
Everyone’s favorite bird of prey is getting her own series. Better yet it is being illustrated by Annie Wu, whose graffiti album-cover-esque style could be seen occasionally in Fraction’s Hawkeye run.
Eight #5
The conclusion to this cool time-travel mutli=timeline story. I have unfortunately not bought an issue since the the second one, but I intend to catch up.
Empty Zone #1
One of those sci-fi kitchen sink stories, a tragic hero comes face to face with personal demons and animal-human hybrids in a dystopian future.
Fiction #1
4 friends find a box of books that when read aloud transports them into that magical world. Years later when one of them goes missing, the rest team up to figure out what happened. It is like Never-Ending Story meets It.
Giant Days #4
This enhanced Scott-Pilgrim-esque reality can only get more weird when the coming-of-age trio decide to experiment with drugs.
Ghostbusters Get Real #1
Dan Schoening’s Ghostbusters, one time fan art that I have previously admired on Deviant Art, is now meeting the “real” Ghostbusters from the old cartoon show.
The Kitchen #8
The conclusion to the trophy wives turned mob bosses in Hell’s Kitchen.
Martian Manhunter #1
He was left out of the Justice League in the new 52. He didn’t even have his own title, until now. Hopefully this is the title that J’onn is worthy of.
Runaways #1
The Runaways are coming back thanks to Battleworld. Except their ranks aren’t exactly familiar. And they are actually running away from super-academy this time rather than left orphaned by the worst parents in the world.
TMNT Casey & April #1
Casey Jones and April O’Nil hit the road to dig up some clues about the mysterious Pantheon, a shadowy organization that has secretly been pulling the Turtles’ strings.
