Must read comics for the week of 7/28/2013
Batman Incorporated #13
By: Grant Morrison, Chris Burnham
Publisher: DC Comics
The Lowdown: This is the final issue of Grant Morrison’s epic Batman saga. Morrison has already admitted that most fans are probably going to hate the ending, but I think its kind of cool. At least he is trying to do something than the usual “back to status quo.”
Wake #3
By: Scott Snyder, Sean Murphy
Publisher: DC Comics
The Lowdown: Bigfoot is usually considered the missing link, but this team of scientists and explorers found the real missing link at the bottom of the ocean. Snyder delivers on this really cool slice of sci-fi horror that seems like a mix of Alien and The Sphere.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #24
By: Tom Waltz, Mateus Santolouco, Kevin Eastman
Publisher: IDW Publishing
The Lowdown: The stakes are rising with the Ninja Turtles. Leonardo is kidnapped by the Foot. Casey Jones is in the hospital. And now Old Hob wants a truce.
Black Bolt Something Inhuman This Way Comes
By: Roy Thomas, Neal Adams
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The Lowdown: Black Bolt is left on the streets of San Francisco with no memories. His brother has taken his throne. His friends have been run out of Attilan. I’m not sure if this is a special out of canon one-shot or a stepping stone for the upcoming Inhumans series later this year.
Guardians Of Galaxy #5
By: Brian Michael Bendis, Neil Gaiman, Sara Pichelli, Milo Manara
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The Lowdown: After a long legal battle with Image Comics, author Neil Gaiman got the rights to his Angela character and has decided to bring her to the Marvel Universe. Part of the aftermath of Age of Ultron, Angela has pretty much blipped into our reality and faces off against the Guardians of the Galaxy.
