Verdict on The Professional Parent
The Professional Parent follows Ingrid a resident of a small village in Slovakia who agrees to adopt a Roma girl. Most locals want nothing to do with them, so much so that the naming process is different. Ingrid becomes Samantha’s ‘Professional Parent’ and welcomes her into her home. However, it could have effects on her normal family life.
This short movie shows the struggles of trying to do the right thing. It shows how a typical family can be turned upside and the connection can cause lasting effects. This ends up feeling more like an extended trailer to much more in depth story that could go in countless directions. It shows the struggles connecting but outside of knowing the culture of the area, it difficult to understand the differences between the two groups of people.
Final Thoughts – The Professional Parent feels like there is a lot story to be told.
