The review has found that there are four main areas for action to improve the public realm in London and make it more accessible and inclusive:
• planning policies and guidance;
• negotiations over planning applications and planning obligations;
• the creation of management agreements; and
• the involvement of local communities.
The report wants to see from the Mayor a requirement from supplementary planning guidance proper agreements between boroughs and developers in terms of the use and availability of public space. It also suggests communities should be engaged as early as possible to work with developers and boroughs.
