The Paramount Coffee Project, Surry Hills

By Foodisourreligion @food_religion
I am so glad I can finally tick this place off my list. I think I must be the last person to check out Paramount Coffee Project in Surry Hills. A collaboration between Reuben Hills and Melbourne's Seven Seeds. When I step foot into PCP, I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and their decor as it reminded me so much of the cafes in Melbourne. Job well done I'd say.

The Hick's Burger: Smoked hickory pulled lamb, onion rings, horseradish aioli - $17
McClures potato crisps and housemade dill pickles - extra $3

There were two things on that menu that stood right out. The first was the the smoked hickey pulled lamb burger. I think my eyes widened up when I saw the words 'pulled lamb' and 'horseradish aioli'. I may or may not have drooled a bit whilst reading the description to myself.
The pulled lamb was very tender and the horseradish aioli helped made the lamb even more moist. The bun was unfortunately partially burnt as the sliced parts of the burger came out charcoal black. Luckily all the favours from the lamb, sauce and especially the strong and distinct taste from the pickles overpowered most of the burnt part of the buns. Am I the only person that will immediately say yes to anything that has pickles??

Mary's Blood Waffle - $16

The second thing that caught my eye was Mary's Blood Waffle and for an extra 3 bucks, you could get it with maple bacon. I decided to do the sensible thing and order it without the maple bacon. I know a few of you however might think that doing the opposite is considered to be the 'sensible' thing so I apologize in advance if it hurts for you to know that I said 'No' to bacon.
I don't often have waffles for breakfast. In fact, I think the first time I have ever had waffles for breakfast was when I was in the States. The guacamole along with the egg yolk and the salsa made my plain waffle taste very oh so flavoursome. The waffle also wasn't as heavy as the pulled lamb burger so I didn't feel as guilty scoffing half of it down.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake - $8

Avocado on toast with chilli, lime and greens - $11

The peanut butter and jelly milkshake was exactly the 'pick me up' I needed. It was insanely rich so if you have a sweet tooth, I highly recommended this. Otherwise, if you don't have much of a sweet tooth and still want to try it then I suggest  for you to share this with someone. It was basically like consuming a liquid version of a reese buttercup. Sweet, slightly salty and dangerously addictive.
So basically if I ever miss chilling at a cafe in Melbourne, at least I know now where to go as a temporary solution. Can't wait to come back to sit next to some hipster bicycles, drink my peanut butter and jelly milkshake and have more pulled lamb and pickles!
