Sometimes our feet get neglected, right?
But as I was reminded - they support us, they hold us up! Yes, I have the odd manicure - usually shellac, for my sins - but otherwise, I don't really invest into foot care.
So when I was invited to visit the new Margaret Dabbs clinic in Guildford I was intrigued. The world-renowned Medical Pedicure was something I'd heard of - one of those cult classic treatments that makes the pages of Vogue and other such glossy magazines - but didn't really know much about.
Let me tell you a little bit about it. The Medi-Pedi claims to create the perfect sole. Quite the claim!
Performed by a fully qualified and trained podiatrist, the 45 minute treatment is thorough to say the least. I arrived and was guided in to my treatment room, which I can only describe as resembling luxe dental suite! A plush white leather ergonomic chair, surrounded by a collection of serious looking machines and various lotions and potions - I took my seat and was prepared for treatment. And then it begun. Skin filed and buffed, and nails shaped and hydrated - my feet were well and truly whipped in to shape. I've never seen anything like it!
The podiatrist talked me through my 'problem areas' and advised me how to best care for my feet at home - keeping them smooth and supple. During my appointment I was lucky enough to meet Margaret herself, who hand delivered me a glass of champagne and bucket loads of advice and guidance on foot care. She told me that regular clients usually come quarterly for their Medi-Pedi, and it's not just confined to the summer months. In fact, what I particularly liked wast that my feet are feeling well cared for and nourished - toe nails free from polish - ready for a few months of hibernation! You know how it goes, the sandals go away and we neglect to look after our feet - after all, they remain hidden in boots for so long. But I've never had such smooth heels and such shiny toenails; buffed to perfection.
I love all that Margaret Dabbs preaches - a non-faddy approach to self-care. Taking care of something that not only gets neglected, but that holds us and support us.
If you're in Guildford, be sure to pop in store for a look at the salon and what they have on offer. Since visiting for my Medi-Pedi I've been back in for a manicure, which was just as I'd come to expect from Margaret Dabbs - thorough and professional. I went for one of their new shades on my finger nails, Morning Glory (lolz at this one!), but even since removing the polish weeks later I have been left with sparkling, healthy nails. This former shellac convert is having a serious rethink about how terrible those gel treatments can be for your nails!
You can find them at 23a Chapel Street, right next door to Surrey Hills Coffee.
Thank you to Margaret Dabbs for inviting me to review their new clinic. All views my own.
