Plot: Angela Bennett (Bullock) is a computer program but when she stumbles upon a conspiracy her life ends up in grave danger. With few friends outside the computer world and her life slowly getting erased how can she make it through? What follows in a cat and mouse between Angela and Jack Devlin (Northam).
Verdict: The first real cyber thriller?
Story: With the film made back in the nighties and the internet first becoming something not many had we get to see the more serious side of computerising all our information. The idea that your identity is taken without any proof left of who you are would come off very frightening but our heroine has to get through this to uncover the truth behind why it was erased. The cat and mouse side of the story comes off very strong and makes this a real thriller. (9/10)
Actor Review: Sandra Bullock – Angela a computer program who gets a mysterious program from a friend, but while on holiday her life changes she is erased and has to use what little contacts she has left to prove who is really is and using her knowledge of computer systems stays on foot ahead of her nemesis. Good performance from Sandra showing that you can have an action thriller leads without need endless fights, just smarts. (8/10)
Actor Review: Jeremy Northam – Jack Devlin a hired hit man sent to clean up all the evidence that is on a disk that Angela receives. Jeremy does a great job in his first American film role. (8/10)
Director Review: Irwin Winkler – Good direction to show how to make a thinking person’s thriller. (8/10)
Action: The action isn’t as important as other films where a muscle bound bodyguard figure would protect the girl. (6/10)
Crime: The crime committed and the covers up all fill the crime out very well. (9/10)
Thriller: Once it gets going the thrills are non-stop and you will just be left to guess whether she will uncover the truth. (8/10)
Believability: I feel this was part a warning about putting too much information on computers. (5/10)
Chances of Tears: No (0/10)
Settings: Mixture of settings but none that really add much to the story but work for foot chase scenes. (6/10)
Suggestion: I think this is only one to try I think thriller fans will enjoy but the more casual relaction fans will not enjoy. (Try It)
Best Part: The pier chase
Worst Part: Starts a bit slow.
