The Neanderthal Christian Right Bans Gay Marriage in North Carolina

The national debate over gay marriage focused Tuesday on North Carolina, as voters decided whether to make it the 30th state to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman.
The thing that strikes me is at the same time the entire country, and North Carolina in particular, is moving in the direction of more lenient gun control laws, they're instituting these Neanderthal restrictions on marriage and civil partnerships.
Both trends indicate a wrong-headed direction based on bigotry and bias. Both are the result of a vocal and well-financed minority calling the tune for the masses.
And both will eventually be reversed whenever we achieve a more enlightened future for our country.
