In Tamil cinema, the easiest distinction between the dual roles is the mush – one with moustache and another without ! - remember Rajnikant ‘Thillu mullu’ !!
பாசமுள்ள மனிதனப்பா !! நான் ஒரு மீசை வைத்த குழந்தையப்பா !!! நீங்கள் மீசை வைத்தவரா ! சினிமாவில் பல கதாநாயகர்கள் மீசை இல்லாமல் காட்சி தந்தாலும், மீசை வீரத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துவதாகவே சித்தரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. (நான் தாடிக்காரன் என்பது வேறு!)
ஆண்கள் தலையிலும் முகத்திலும் முடிவளர்த்துக் கொள்வதையும் மழித்துக் கொள்வதையும் "மழித்தலும் நீட்டலும் வேண்டா'' எனத் திருவள்ளுவர் விளக்கியுள்ளார். உலகம் பழித்த தீயசெயல்களை ஒழித்துவிட்டால், புறக்கோலங்கள் வேண்டா, உயர்வுதானே வரும்; உயர்வு கருதி மயிரை மழித்துக் கொள்ளலும் நீள வளர்த்தலும் செய்ய வேண்டாம் என கூறியுள்ளார் வள்ளுவ பெருந்தகை. நீண்ட தலைமுடியையும், நீண்ட தாடியையும் வைத்துக் கொள்பவர்கள் பெரும்பாலும் தவசீலர்களாகவே இருந்து வருகின்றனர்.
பற்பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக மீசையும் வீரமும் தொடர்புடையவைகளாக நம்பப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. சேனையணிகள் சூழ,அரசனே பெரும்படையுடன் வந்தாலும் வன்மைகொண்ட பார்வையும் வலி மிகுந்த கழுத்தும் உடைய கலைமானின் கொம்புகளைப் போல, மீசை முறுக்கொண்டு திருகி நிற்கும் வீரர்கள் !!
வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் வசனத்தை மீறி நமக்கு ஞாபகத்தில் வருவது அவரது மீசைதான். "குப்புற விழுந்தாலும் மீசையில் மண் ஒட்டவி்ல்லை, கூழுக்கும் ஆசை மீசைக்கும் ஆசை, மீசை நரைத்தாலும் ஆசை நரைக்கவில்லை" எனப் பல மீசை பற்றி பழமொழிகள் உள்ளன.

There are many types – Merv Hughes used to sport handlebar moustache. First becoming popular in the United States in the late 19th century, the style spread to Germany and elsewhere. It was made famous by comedians such as Charlie Chaplin and Oliver Hardy before reaching its height of popularity in the interwar years. The style became more spoken after World War II due to its strong association with Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, leading to its being called the 'Hitler moustache'.
There were conflicting theories that Hitler intended to channel Charlie Chaplin's lovable Tramp character and charm his enemies, but a person who lived with him went on to write that Hitler originally wanted a fill Bavarian moustache... the kind of extravagant chops you can hang a hat on. However, his superiors in the Bavarian Infantry Division ordered him to clip his moustache down, so his gas mask would fit over his mouth properly.
