The bride shared with us:“We met in 2004 (both 17 at the time) we had the same group of friends. They knew we were both currently single and thought we’d be good as a couple. We were introduced to each other and instantly hit it off. We had a lot of similar interests, the dates continued and the rest is beautiful history! Now, as for the proposal… we actually didn’t get engaged. I am not the type of girl who likes to be center of attention and Benny knows this. As the relationship grew, year after year, we honestly just came to a mutual agreement that we would just get married when we were ready. We kept it simple. My thought also was that any money we’d spend on engagement ring, party etc. would be far better off put into a deposit for a home”.

“We both thought that if we’re going to elope overseas then we’d have to make it worth while so I gathered travel magazines and the searching began. As I flicked through there was a color photo of a cliff edge in Santorini. The beautiful view, buildings and the beautiful sunsets were a standout. I knew people that had been there before so many questions later resulted in a unanimous…. ‘It’s heaven on earth!’ We trusted everyone’s judgement and locked it in! We were so excited we’d made the first step!”

Loving the sweetheart strapless wedding dress by Sarah Seven. A beautiful a-line wedding gown with lace. Katie shared with us: “I wore a Sarah Seven custom gown called the ‘Cascade Gown’. I fell in love with the US based designer then discovered the Bridal Atelier in Melbourne stocked Sarah Seven among a few other designers. Benny and I flew to Melbourne in early January to try on ‘The Dress’ and it was an instant yes!”

The best moment of the wedding for the bride was: “After the ceremony we had a moment where we just looked at each other with big goofy smiles saying: we did it! We did it! We were so excited! Also the photography aspect of the day was so much fun! Anna & Xavier are so good at what they do!”

“Our colorful wedding decoration was vibrant and romantic. We had beautiful bright floral arrangements matched up with vintage textures such as lace, gold ornaments, soft lighting, candles, white timber. We had gold cutlery as well! Such a nice touch! We also added some personal items, the small framed artwork, name tags and the ‘U&ME’ marquee lights were made by myself. Also Benny’s father made the timber cake stand and my father hand painted the small toy VW’s that were our ring holders…”

The best and worst decision the bride made when planning her wedding: “I’d say apart from our amazing team the best decision we made was to have our ceremony at 7 pm, pretty close to sunset. It gave us such amazing light, just what we wanted for our photos. And the worst decision, as cliche as it sounds the day was seriously perfect! We cannot fault it!”

The bride’s advise: “Consider having a videographer! We were beyond happy with our photos but the video holds a special place in our hearts. Not only was it a perfect keepsake but we were then able to show the video to friends and family and involve them in our experience. Also try to adapt a ‘just go with it’ attitude. My father said this to me numerous times, ‘don’t worry about things that are out of your control’.”
