This month provided some interested news and developments in the world of GPS technology. Mother nature ruined the party as GeoEye’s planned satellite images of the Presidential Inauguration were foiled by cloud cover. The Justice Department and the people remain largely polarized by the question of GPS, and our rights as citizens of this country. Criminals continue to underestimate the effectiveness of GPS tracking, or they remain oblivious…one of the two. Either way, if I were them, I would look for another line
of work because they are, obviously, terrible at what they do.
Don’t look now but, just like our close friend across the pond (England), GPS tracking will slowly but surely start dictating your insurance premiums. How you drive, when you drive, miles driven, and more can all be measured using GPS tracking technology, and will be the deciding factors in determining how much or how little you pay for automobile insurance. Called UBI (Usage-Based-Insurance), this isn’t new, but it is becoming more mainstream.
Keep your eyes open! GPS is finding it’s way into more areas of our lives…almost on a daily basis. If you’re curious about the where and when of things, GPS technology has the crystal clear answers you seek! It really is the “eye in the sky”…
