The Monkey (2025) Movie Review

First Reaction – The Monkey is wacky bloodbath.

Plot: When twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start. The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.

Story: The Monkey starts when twin brothers Hal and Bill (Both played by Convery) discover a toy monkey from their estranged father’s collection of gifts. They make the disturbing discovery that if you turn the key it will activate the toy. However, someone, somewhere with die in an accident.

25-years-later, Hal (James) is trying to stay away from connection, but he is drawn back in when the monkey reappears. He must put a stop to whoever is controlling it before too many people get killed.

Verdict on The Monkey

Recap

The movie follows a man whose life is turned upside down when a mystery toy returns and begins causing havoc again. It follows him trying to solve the mystery and stop the chaos before it takes anyone too close to him.

Best Parts

The wackiness is the highlight of the movie, we see the crazy over-the-top deaths. Each one is bonkers, bloody and in most cases humorous. Theo James does great in the dual roles and the supporting cast adds plenty of comedy to the bigger picture.

Worst Parts

Sometimes things can feel too random, and it will leave you scratching your head if you think about things too much. However, you can switch off and let the wacky side cover up the story’s holes.

Final Thoughts The Monkey is a crazy, wacky and bonkers movie.
