Stars of both the big and the small screen met on January 10 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California for the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. The ceremony, which was the 73 rd installment of the event, which celebrated the best of film and television productions was hosted by British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais, who hosted the awards show for the fourth time.
The red carpet event that took place before the show was also a big part of the Golden Globes, as celebrities from all corners of the media showcased their style to the press representatives.
We have become used to the fact that red carpet men's fashions are generally classic and conservative and this year's Golden Globes fashions were not very far from that either.
However, there were many interesting looks that either featured a slight personalization of classic attire or that were more special and interesting.
Here is a look at some of the most noteworthy menswear looks from the 2016 Golden Globes:
Actor Kevin Hart wore a very dressy outfit, composed of a gray jacket and black pants and accessorized to the nines. The many details of Kevin's outfit worked well together: the accent lapels, the lapel flower, the bow tie, the watch and the slip-on shoes with a detail made a good mix. What every man can learn from Hart's outfit is that wearing a gray jacket and a pair of pants of a different color does work, even for dressier events and that it makes an outfit more dynamic.
Rocking a fantastic blue three-piece suit, actor Gerard Butler definitely caught our eye. Blue is definitely a great alternative to go for when you want to wear a classic suit but want to opt for something different and that is not very dark. We also loved the light blue accents, which made the suit more interesting, more relaxed and more creative.
Actor David Oyelowo wore a very colorful suit to the Golden Globes. It is always refreshing to see something different on the red carpet and we thank David for that. With a lovely purple with black and teal squares, Oyelowo rocked the red carpet. The outfit could have been a "What Were They Thinking" moment and too casual, but due to the formal cut of the pieces, David was event-appropriate and very stylish.
Comedian Aziz Ansari wore a classic suit for the Golden Globes that suited him well. However, the suit worn by Aziz featured a subtle pattern that made it deeper and more complex, more interesting visually and more personal. Well done!
Liev Schreiber wore a great suit and tie combination that showed that there is no way of going wrong with a classic look, regardless of the event. Moreover, we really enjoyed the fact that Liev broke down the classic suit with a white pocket square that balanced out the black tie. Also, a style tip anyone can take from Liev is that when you are wearing a jacket that features two or more buttons, you should always leave the lowest button unfastened.
The cherry on the top of the Golden Globes was probably Tom Ford, who took the cake in a fantastic suit. The thing we love so much about the fashion designer is that he is the living example of how your posture, your attitude and the way you carry yourself will influence your overall look. With a well-fitting suit and shirt, complimented by a great mid-size bow tie and great shoes, worn with a stunning pair of pants, Tom Ford was definitely one of our favorite guys!
And there you have it! These were some of the most catchy menswear looks from the 2016 Golden Globes. From Gerard Butler's blue suit to David Oyelowo's colorful look, there were many interesting things to see on this year's red carpet event.
Now on to the Oscars!
