The Manatees – ‘What If’ (8 March)

Hailing from Southampton, The Manatees are a fine indie-pop band with a penchant for catchy hooks and heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics. Their new single ‘What If’ (out on 8 March via Kerosene and Vox Humana Records) has been mixed by Spring King’s Tarek Musa and follows praise from Steve Lamacq and Spotify.

Tackling the anxieties and stress that comes with growing up, the Jamie T-esque ‘What if’ finds Jay Harris lamenting the fact that his mind drives him around the bend and asking ‘What if I don’t make it to school?’ before listing other worries including ‘what if I lose all my friends?’ and ‘what if they forget my name?’ and then pleads of asking people to see things in the same way as he does.

Catch The Manatees on tour in April:

Thurs 4TH – 60 Million Postcards, BOURNEMOUTH

Fri 5th – The Sussex Arms, TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Mon 8th – The Old Blue Last, LONDON

Wed 10th – The Hope & Ruin, BRIGHTON
