The Long Game- It’s A Review. Of A Film.

I sat on this review for a while. I was hoping to find this with audio description, as I did think there was a little something in this sports drama. The movie centers around a veteran (Hernandez), who takes a job teaching Latino boys in Texas how to play golf, fighting a racist system that sees these boys only as “the help” or caddies. They don’t want these boys playing the sport, and they really don’t even want the decorated Latino veteran plaing either. If it wasn’t for his friendship with a fellow veteran (Quaid), he likely wouldn’t get very far, as Quaid advocates for him in ways that seem like only the white savior could.

It isn’t the most revelatory of sports dramas, but it is based on something that actually happened, and Latino boys deserve to play.
