The Lollipop Shoes by @Joannechocolat

The Lollipop Shoes by @Joannechocolat 'My mother, Vianne Rocher.'

Seeking refuge and anonymity in the cobbled streets of Montmartre, Yanne and her two daughters live peacefully, if not happily, above their little chocolate shop. Nothing unusual marks them out; no red sachets hang by the door. The wind has stopped - at least for a while. Then into their lives blows Zozie de l'Alba, the lady with the lollipop shoes, ruthless, devious and seductive.

With everything she loves at stake, Yanne must face a difficult choice; to flee, as she has done so many times before, or to confront her most dangerous enemy.

Harris is one of my favourite writers. Chocolate is one of my favourite books so I couldn't wait to read this sequel. I loved it. I loved catching up with some of my favourite characters from the first book and it was great getting to meet some new ones. Zozie is a fantastic character, a wonderful female villain, beauty but nasty at the same time, brilliantly rendered. I found it strange that the book is set in modern times as the whole setting and characters felt like something set in the distant past. Zozie is devious. I liked her at first, a breath of fresh air and seems to be what Vianne and Anouk need. She helps out at the shop and goes out of her way to be nice. Be suspicious of someone who is that nice and friendly and helpful. I was engrossed with every page.
