Story: The Last Starfighter starts when high school student Alex Rogan (Guest) spends his time playing an arcade game. He has been playing for years and everyone around town knows he is the best at it. However, things change when he conquers the game.
Alex finds himself transported to another planet, because he was the first person to pass the test. Now, he finds himself a recruit in an intergalactic battle where he is the most famous starfighter in the fleet.
Verdict on The Last Starfighter
The Last Starfighter is an action sci-fi movie following a high school student who finds himself thrown into an intergalactic war. However, he wasn’t prepared for this battle, as his only experience is video game playing. He must now decide whether to use these new skills and fight or wait for the enemy to arrive on Earth.
This does feel like a movie that was ahead of its time, leading to competition to Star Wars. The idea would be to create a new intergalactic battle between two sides. It is a fun movie and feels like we never left the 80s with the creations involved. The wonderful world creation brings a host of different colourful characters to life, that make us want to stay.
Final Thoughts – The Last Starfighter is a fun 80s action sci-fi movie.
