So there was a big blockchain conference (Consensus 2018) that just concluded.
NewsBtc.com reported that at Consensus 2018 Block-Chain.com sold for $1million or 111 BTC.

A group of investors has purchased the Block-chain.com domain for $1 million (111 BTC), which makes this the third most expensive cryptocurrency domain name acquisition ever.

The domain was registered previously back in 2012 where it just sat with a GoDaddy landing page and then left to expire.
The domain was parked at Parking Crew originally, it then had a landing page and then a Flippa page.
The domain was first under privacy and then the registrant’s name was public, a gentleman from Florida owned the name.
Interestingly Mike found that the name was auctioned last August on Sedo, the seller did not have million dollar aspirations at the time.
Reserve range was $5,000 – $9,999, the auction only went as high as $1,400, no sale.
Sedo posted the domain sold for $30,000 in January.
