The important role that sympathy flowers play

There are never any words to describe all the emotions that you experience when you lose somebody you love. That person has been part of your life for years and there's a clear and definite hole that can never be filled. When somebody you care about is grieving the loss of a loved one, it can be a particularly sensitive time. As much as you want to show your moral support and love, you don't want to come across as overbearing. So, where do you draw the line?

The first piece of advice to remember is to give that person or family some space and time. They need to come to terms with their loss and they may initially experience shock and even anger. In times of anger, your helpfulness could be perceived as intrusive and this could result in hard feelings or even terrible fights.

On the other hand, you don't want to ignore that person's loss. You do want to show them a respectful amount of support. This is where a fresh flower delivery is perfect. When you send sympathy flowers, you are showing the recipient that you care without invading their privacy. You can choose a florist delivery or you can deliver the flowers in person if you like. In most cases, the former is preferred since you don't know the frame of mind of the recipient.

Along with the flowers, you should include a personal and sincere message with your name. You can address the card to one person in particular or the entire family. Also, when choosing the type of flowers or colours, it's a good idea to ask your florist or check the sympathy flowers section when shopping for flowers online. White flowers are popular but, if you want something that will brighten their home and lift their spirits, then other colours like pink or orange are also perfectly acceptable. No matter the type or colours you choose, one thing is for sure - fresh flowers will help ease the sting of their loss. Studies have proven that fresh flowers are mood boosters and they help relieve stress which makes them ideal for times of grief.

Flowers have played a huge role in funerals and wakes for centuries and they have become customary in many cultures around the world. When shopping for flowers to comfort a grieving loved one, it's important to put that person's needs first. Avoid including alcohol with the bouquet and perhaps choose something more practical like a vase to add to your flower order instead.

Finally, you might be inclined to send a gift hamper during this time. However, it's important that you avoid hampers that contain fresh items. Fresh fruit hampers might go to waste before the recipient regains their appetite. It's also probably a good idea to avoid alcohol hampers during this time and choose a coffee hamper or tea hamper instead. Even pamper hampers can make the recipient feel good but you also run the risk of making them feel guilty for enjoying life when their loved one is no longer around. Take a long look at the gift hamper and put yourself in the shoes of the recipient before you place your order.
