To make sure that you give your dog the right kind and amount of treats, here are some tips that you should practice.

Learn how to effectively make use of dog treats

Give your dog his treats to emphasize a calm, obedient state. Don’t give your dog a treat as a reward to an over-stimulated state. Because dogs have incredible sense of smell, it’s important that you let your dog smell his treat first. Avoid putting the treat directly under his nose, instead hold it up a few inches away and just wait. When your dog smells his treat, he’ll get excited and may jump on you. To cut this over-stimulated behavior, indicate your disapproval through body language. You can do this by slowly moving back or stepping aside. And then just wait. You’re dog will likely figure out what you want him to do so he can have his treat and will behave on his own with anticipation. When your dog is finally calm, you may reward him with his dog treats.
