Date: Saturday 10th November 2018
Venue: City Hall, Newcastle
After I have been to a music gig I always feel as though I should attend more live music events. I was left feeling the same after this one, The Illegal Eagles are a tribute act for American band The Eagles. Throughout the evening we are taken on a fantastic journey through the back catalogue of the band along with stories about the band member changes and when different songs were written and how the sound changed slightly with the members coming and going.
I found those facts to be fantastic as while I like a lot of the songs (I am by no means a hardcore fan, but I attended this with my Dad who is a huge fan. I probably know more of the greatest hits and well known ones) it also opened me up to more of the songs and really helping to showcase the brilliant writing.
I was very impressed with each member of this band and the way they swapped around the person singing lead vocals on different songs, along with the wide range of musical instruments used to help recreate the classic sound.
My favourite Eagles song is Desperado which it seemed to be for a lot of the audience as well, when it was introduced by Garreth Hicklin he claimed it to be one of the greatest songs of all time and I couldn't agree more! Everything about it is just fantastic!
The show was split into two halves which were over an hour each, so certainly huge value for money with that. The City Hall is a fantastic venue as well, not too big and not too small. This was the first music gig I have been lucky enough to see though and I will certainly be back checking what else they have on and return in the future.
One song is saved for an encore though and that is Hotel California . . . Rightly saved for the end though as it really is an epic song!
I have already been checking for the North East dates for 2019 as this band has a full schedule across the country in place already. Check out the official website for more information, 2019 tour dates and more!
