A stuck up FBI agent is sent to Boston to investigate drug trafficking but must work with a rough foul-mouthed Boston cop in order to take down the drug lord.
Ashburn seems to think she must do everything on her own within the FBI and in New York none of the other agents like or get on with her. This leads to the move to Boston and she is told she must work well with others in order to gain promotion at work. That task is made even more difficult when she must work with Mullins a Boston cop who grew up on the very streets she now works on.
With two very different styles and opinions on the best way to get information from people we are expecting a crazy ride from start to finish. They constantly clash and are total opposites. This leads to some amusing scenes, but I cannot bring myself to call the film funny as a lot of it I did not find myself laughing very often.
It was very slapstick at times especially when McCarthy was involved, she seems to be very typecast in the same role now since her star turn in Bridesmaids. Which is a bit of a shame when you see her in Mike and Molly. But I guess that’s just what happens when something works and is good in one film, it’s taken into many others.
At times the film seemed to want to shock the audience with some of the lines and moments, but I found it ran out of the same type of jokes very quickly. Only so many times you can use swearing to still be amusing to the audience. It had too much of the woman swearing a lot and trying to make that into more jokes. But I just found it crude and unnecessary, swearing can be used so well within films but overuse in this one for me!
I think the best way to sum up this film in the cinema experience for myself was that I was wondering when it was going to end and actually wanted it to end much sooner!
