20 Century Fox has released the official trailer for The Hate U Give, based on the NY Times best selling novel of the same name.
The story revolves around high-school student Starr Carter(Amandla Stenberg), who splits time between the poverty-stricken neighborhood she calls home and the affluent prep school she attends.
The teen’s world is completely flipped upside down when her childhood friend, Khalil, is shot and killed by a police officer. With surmounting pressure crashing in from all sides of her community, Starr is faced with the daunting task of using her voice to fight the powers that be.
The film also stars Regina Hall, Issa Rae, Common, and Russell Hornsby,
The Hate U Give hits theaters on October 19.
