"A stunning, brilliant, gut-wrenching novel that will be remembered as a classic of our time." John Green

No. 1 New York Times bestseller.

Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighbourhood where she was born and raised and her posh high school in the suburbs. The uneasy balance between them is shattered when Starr is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend, Khalil, by a police officer. Now what Starr says could destroy her community. It could also get her killed.

Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, this is a powerful andgripping YA novel about one girl's struggle for justice. Movie rights have beensold to Fox, with Amandla Stenberg ( The Hunger Games) to star.

I don't thinkmy poor heart will ever fully recover. It got busted so bad reading this gut-wrenchingbook. I was a shaking, sobbing mess for the last few chapters. I even woke upthree times during the night crying about the book. You know you've readsomething really special when it totally wrecks you. Starr is an amazingcharacter. I love that she's the narrator. Khalil's murder forcesher to realise some harsh truths about her world, her friends at her poshschool have no idea what it's like to live her life. When Starr is revealed asthe witness in the shooting this destroys one of her friendships completelywhen her friend Hailey makes some terrible, racist remarks there's no comingback from. My heart went out to her. Starr is so brave but doesn't see herselfthis way. The book doesn't end the way I was hoping for bur what happens isvery realistic. The Hate U Give is amazing. I look forward to seeing themovie and the author's next book.
