There have been major press rows surrounding two of the big contenders, The Imitation Game and Selma, as inevitable for historical Oscar bait. My Moviepilot colleague Brian Finamore posted an excellent article addressing the critique of Selma, which arises from a surly Lyndon Johnson aide. I haven't seen Selma yet, but since the movie's not about LBJ, my response is: who cares?
Some less cheerful news: legendary Italian director, Francesco Rosi of Salvatore Giuliano, and actress Anita Ekberg, both recently passed away.
